The Royal Conservatory, a leading institution in music education for over 130 years, is excited to launch Smart Start, a new and transformative early childhood music program.
This fun and engaging music program was created by the RCM’s Neuroscience Research Centre in collaboration with expert music educators. Tailored specifically to the developmental ages for children ages 0-3, the program’s curriculum consists of age-targeted, weekly classes delivered by a certified Smart Start teacher.
We at Semiahmoo Academy of Music are very pleased and honoured to be among the very first music schools in Canada to offer this exciting new course.
Smart Start: 0-1 years
When: Mondays 11:00-11:45 am
Course Dates: September 8, 2025 to April 27, 2026

Begin making lifelong connections with music and developing the foundations for basic cognitive skills through fun parent-child activities.

When: Mondays 1:45-2:30 pm

Develop your child's musical abilities through more independent activities, and expand cognitive skills through creativity and self-awareness. Singing, dancing, playing games - children adore this active, play-based learning environment.

When: Sundays 10:00 am – 11:00 am

Preschool Music Classes for Ages 3-4
Classes for preschool children ages 3-4 are once a week for 45 minutes. Be sure to register early as class sizes will be kept small. We have prepared an exciting & stimulating program for our youngest students. Here are just some of the great things they can expect to learn!
• Rhythm play with percussion instruments
• Singing & listening
• Music appreciation
• Movement to music
• Introduction to composers
• Introduction to orchestral instruments
• Sound recognition of orchestral instruments
• Note recognition & elementary music reading
• Playing songs on the piano – individual & ensemble
• Opportunity to perform in small recitals
Mozart & Me Preschool Classes:
Parent participation is required. Upon completion of the Mozart & Me course, students can easily transition into a semi private or private lesson at the age of 5.
